Stephanie's Friday Movie Pick: My Soul To Take

My pick for this week is My Soul To Take. The movie follows Bug, one of a group of 7 kids that were born on the day the notorious Riverton Ripper was killed. When people start turning up dead, there is talk that the killer has returned from the grave. This is where we go into slightly less treaded waters. Bug sees what happens to the victims in his nightmares. But is that really all there is to it? After it is revealed that Bug is actually the son of the long dead killer, you really start to wonder.

I really haven't seen much of Wes Craven's work. I've really only seen the Scream movies, but I loved them. And I love this new idea from him. In a world of remakes, its refreshing to have an original concept that also touches on fears that many have. Is there a link between us and the dark secrets in our family line?

My Soul To Take has a hot, young cast including Max Thieriot in his first starring role. Its available in 3D for cheap thrills. But ask yourself before you see the 30th remake of Spider-Man or whatever is out now, how many times can I watch nerdy guy number 2 pine over hot chick number 7 before I stab out my eyeballs with a spoon?
